About Us

We’re a family, literally

La Brisa was founded in 1982 by Mr. Guadalupe and his wife Maria Angeles Flores. Today, it continues to be a family owned and operated business, with multiple family members at the forefront looking after every aspect from administration, quality, production, marketing, sales, and development. And yes, Mr. Flores still loves going to the market early in the morning to source out fresh seasonal fruit for our products!

Paleta Dreams

From the beginning Mr. & Mrs. Flores’ mission was to transcend palates by introducing premium fruit pops (paletas) in an array of exotic and culturally blended flavors to the local scene. That mission still stands today, and the Flores family strives to continue delivering fruitful quality products to pop lovers everywhere.

History

With no other product of its kind in the market, in 1981 Mr. Flores set out to source out fresh fruit and other ingredients from local farmers markets to make his vision of fresh fruit pops a reality. With lots of hard work and dedication preparations of research and development got under way in a very limited space at the back of a tiny shop in the east side of Houston Texas. On July 4th of 1982 La Brisa first opened its doors for business, and has remained open ever since. Over time the small shop front has grown to become a local favorite by enticing people of all ages with its refreshing fresh fruit and creamy pops.

Growth

Once open for business locally, products were introduced to the rest of the Houston area via pushcart, ice cream trucks, convenience and grocery store sales over time. This eventually grew to transcend state lines. In order to keep up with the growing demand production shifted from manual labor to an automated WCB Vitaline system in 2005.

Food Safety Standards

Over the years we have developed a food safety culture and we maintain programs based on the Codex Alimentarius, HACCP principles, the Code of Federal Regulations (21 CFR 117), FDA Requirements, Pre-requisite Program (PRP), current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP), and FSMA: HARPC and Preventative Controls (PC) for Human Foods. We are also SQF level 3 certified.

Today

As our business has grown, we have grown with it and while our products can be found throughout the United States, our small shop front remains open at its original location in the east side of Houston. If you’re in the area, don’t be shy, drop by! Customers are welcomed to stop by for their favorite frozen treats @ 7842 Canal St. Houston Texas 77012.

Decided to take a trip down memory lane and was not disappointed. The paletas are as good a I remember. Watermelon favor are just like biting into a refreshing fresh watermelon slice during a hot summer day. My tastebuds are in heaven.
